The Hawarden Area Arts Council is gearing up for another year of the Hawarden Holiday Express on Saturday, December 2nd! We are incredibly thankful for another year of partnership with L.G. Everist and D&I Railroads. This year, we are excited to announce our partnership with the Hawarden Historical Society and Calliope Village.

The Hawarden Holiday Express is a one-hour train ride that departs from Calliope Village. Passengers will head South to “Santa’s Village” before returning. Train rides will be at 11:00 AM, 1:00, 3:00, and 5:00 PM. The train ride will feature a read-aloud of a holiday classic, music, surprise guests, and more. The link for tickets will be posted on the Hawarden Area Arts Council Facebook page. Tickets are $15 a person and “lap sitters” 2 years and under are free. Tickets must be purchased in advance and will not be available on the day of the event. The online store for tickets is a service courtesy of CAL. Shirt Co. All money from the Hawarden Holiday Express goes back into the community to help support local art programs for all ages.

New this year is a vendor fair in the historical buildings at Calliope Village. Local vendors will set up from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM with holiday crafts, apparel, treats, and more! Finish your holiday shopping with us! While shopping, Link West will be playing acoustic versions of your favorite Christmas songs. A Toys for Tots donation station will also be onsite.

Spend your day in Hawarden! Start your morning with a holiday breakfast at Pizza Ranch featuring well-loved Christmas characters, shop the vendor fair, hop on the train, head downtown to local businesses, and don’t miss the Holiday Lights Parade on Central Avenue at 6:30 PM.
